Video Games I will never say that I was a normal child. As luck would have it, most who knew me as a child will back up my lack of normalcy. I remember being so very excited when I got my first Nintendo. It had everything a child of the 80s could want: the Track and Field pad, Duck Hunt, Super Mario Brothers, and Zelda. But, very quickly, my love of the actual games started to waver. I mean, they were (and are) fun, and I’m sure my parents spent plenty of time worrying that I would give myself an aneurysm out of the unbridled fury I’d succumb to whenever my plumber-avatar was bested by a particularly toothy plant, but my real focus started to shift from the game to the game’s music. There was something so remarkable about the beauty, the sheer glory of the sounds coming out of my television when the title screen to Zelda started. If you can relate, I bet you’re seeing a waterfall and hearing the music in your head right now, too. I knew that I just had to write the music to a video game, someday. I’m happy to say that, as of my writing this, I have written (or co-written) the soundtracks to three video games.
